Events
Here are some events happening in Nebraska in 2008.
Event Pictures
The Tern and Plover Conservation Partnership has an active Environmental and Conservation Outreach program. We participate in many festivals, celebrations, and other programs each year. Many of the activities we lead are from the book FlyingWILD.
Below are some pictures of the events.
New! Chris (center, light green shirt) prepares a group of Arlington, NE, students to play "Hidden Hazards", a game the simulates the hazards migrating birds might face between their wintering and nesting grounds. April, 2008 |
New! A group of youngsters participate in "Bird Olympics" at the Lincoln Children's Zoo. Our game and other displays were part of the UNL School of Natural Resources Earth Day at the Zoo. May, 2008 |
New! The Partnership participated in a series of Family Nature Nights held at several Lincoln, NE, elementary schools. Our game was called "Fill the Bill", and the picture above shows popcorn (insects) being tossed into the air. The swallow (student) uses their bill (hands) to catch the "insects" midair. May, 2008 |
New! Mary encourages the little "hummingbirds" to flap their wings and then drink their "nectar" (koolaid) from their "bill" (straw). Family Nature Nights, May, 2008. |
